tl;dr Pass the Particle kicks off in our Clubhouse on August 18th. Our community of artists will nest a Particle (NFT) within a Particle within a Particle… The resulting collaborative ‘Russian Doll NFT ’ will be auctioned for charity.

We’re Live on L2!

That’s right — after intense development effort, we’re thrilled to have integrated Charged Particles with the Polygon network. We heard the community’s call, and are proud to have delivered! Already, artists minting on our Dapp have seen thousands of dollars in NFT sales.

An awesome benefit of being on L2 is that minting/energizing fees are incredibly low. What would you create if it cost less than a penny?

Without giving a second thought to fees, creative ideas are free to play — even kind of crazy ones. Hence…

Pass the Particle — Starting August 18th

We’re inviting all the community to collaborate in the creation of a ‘Russian Doll’ style NFT.

This is an experiment to wrap an NFT within an NFT within an NFT…
Like adding layers to an onion!

Beginning with a single artwork, we’ll be inviting artists onto the stage to share what they will add to the Particle if it’s passed to them.

Everyone who receives the Particle must:
1 — Energize their own NFT with the Particle
2 — Pass the Particle to the next artist

This unique Particle will start its life cycle within our Clubhouse event on August 18 and continue for a week.

The question is, how many NFTs can we wrap within each other in 7 days?

How many layers will this Particle have?
Who will add to it?
What will be included within it?

Nobody knows! This is an experiment in decentralized creation!

Join in the Creative Process

If you’d like to be ‘Passed the Particle’ to contribute to its creation, please have an artwork ready-to-go, and raise your hand to jump up on the Clubhouse stage.
You will be asked to solemnly swear that you will honorably ‘Pass the Particle’ on to the next artist ;)

What Happens to the Particle?

After a week of being passed around, we’ll ask the final artist to Pass the Particle back to our team. We’ll then auction it and donate all proceeds to charity. Which charity? Help us decide! Our community are nominating charities now in our Discord.

What is a ‘Particle’?

It’s not subatomic physics — it’s an NFT!

A Particle is an NFT minted on the Charged Particles protocol.
Unique among NFTs, Particles can hold other tokens within them. This includes social tokens, interest-bearing tokens, and even other NFTs! We’re loving seeing more and more creative uses of Charged Particles by the community and we’d love to see your ideas come to life.

A scarce NFT (e.g. Art, Collectible, Virtual Real Estate, In-Game Item, etc.) can now be transformed into a basket holding a number of other tokens. The Principal amount can be time-locked inside the NFT, and through integration with Aave’s aTokens, the programmable yield from these DeFi yield-generating assets is just a few clicks away.
